Jeff Landry
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry is a principled, consistent conservative who’s served us as a veteran, law enforcement officer, and has created jobs as a small businessman. Because of his vast personal experience in the real world, he’s been a leader in Louisiana to defend and champion the free market, and fought for our freedoms and upholding the rule of law.
Jeff was raised in a middle class family in St. Martinville. While in high school, he joined the Louisiana National Guard, and his first job after graduating was working in Louisiana’s sugar cane fields.
Jeff later worked his way through college as a police officer and a sheriff’s deputy, experiencing and understanding the necessity of protecting communities and citizens.
Jeff is a veteran of Desert Storm and left the military with the rank of Sergeant. He received several awards including the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, a National Defense Ribbon, an Overseas Training Ribbon and the Louisiana War Cross.
Jeff later embraced his entrepreneurial spirit, and he and a friend started an oil and gas environmental service company. He went on to serve as Executive Director of the St. Martin Parish Economic Development Authority, helping create thousands of jobs and recruiting business to grow Louisiana’s energy corridor.
Like many other Louisianians, Jeff grew frustrated with the ever-growing and out-of-touch federal government. Jeff ran for Congress in 2010 as an unapologetic common-sense conservative, and won while campaigning on his principles for conservative reforms. While in Congress, Jeff was called “the only honest man in Washington” and recognized for being an independent conservative voice in Congress. Jeff vigorously defended the Constitution and stood up to the Obama-Pelosi machine. He was a fierce advocate for the oil and gas industry, and fought against the establishment to cut spending and taxes.
After leaving Congress, Jeff again wanted to challenge the status quo and good ole boy system, and ran for Attorney General in Louisiana. He again ran as an unapologetic, principled conservative and won. Immediately, he worked to reform government and transformed the office into the Louisiana Department of Justice, intensely focusing on the safety of our citizens and prioritizing law enforcement and upholding the rule of law. His office quickly made several arrests, going after child predators, corrupt public officials, and scam artists. He’s continued to stand up and fight for common-sense Louisiana values and to make our citizens safer.
Jeff and his wife, Sharon, are raising their son, J.T., in Acadiana.
